Megan Keeping & Noakis Girl to contest Christmas Gift series

RACE A Chaser Syndications star performers Megan Keeping and Noakis Girl will face one of the biggest challenges of their respective careers when they head to Sale on Sunday for the heats of the $10,000 Christmas Gift (440 metres).

The series has attracted some top chasers from across Victoria including city performers To The Galo’s, Black Driftwood, Shared Bonus, Spring Missile and Danyo’s Slappy.

Megan Keeping will be the first to jump and will exit box four in the first heat of the night. The daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Indigo Gem comes into the series following a respectable third behind Allen Terminator and Noakis Girl at Warrnambool last Thursday.

That formline is a terrific one heading into a race such as this, with Allen Terminator travelling to The Meadows on Saturday night where he will contest a heat of the Group 1 Silver Chief Classic (525 metres).

A winner of two of her past three starts and 18 from 41 overall, Megan Keeping will need to be at her best to make the final, but has pulled up well following her most recent run and looks right in the mix.

Noakis Girl will also be representing the team this weekend and is reportedly firing on all cylinders after trialling at Sale over the weekend.

“She went to Sale last Sunday just to give her a bit of a look at the track and she has pulled up well so we are hoping that she goes ok,” co-trainer Kelly Bravo said.

“They are pretty hot heats, but if she begins then she will have a chance.”

Bravo said she was pleased with Noakis Girl’s most recent run, taking ground off Allen Terminator in the run to the line, and believes she will handle the rise in distance this week.

“She did well last week – I think if she would have got out as well as Megan then she would have held the fence, but Megan crossed her and didn’t give her anywhere to go,” she said.

“It was a nice run and she showed again that she is looking for a bit more ground. She will have to get across from the wide alley at Sale on Sunday, but if she begins like we know she can then she should be able to.”

The first two from each heat will progress through to the final which is set to be run on Boxing Day.
