ANOTHER big week for Race A Chaser Syndications with the talented Jaguara breaking through for his maiden victory in a heat of the Vic Bred series at Bendigo last Friday.
Beginning moderately from box one, the son of Mildean Panther and Flamingo Sands worked hard find the lead down the back before slipping into another gear, scoring by a widening eight lengths in 28.19 over the 500 metre trip.
The most impressive part of Jaguara’s performance was his run home time – just three one hundredths off the record – indicating that he may have a big future over more ground.
Trainer Kelly Bravo was elated with the run.
“Shot To Bits holds the run home record of 12.51 and he ran home in 12.54 – so he is the second strongest dog that has ever been there – not bad for a greyhound which is breaking its maiden,” Bravo said.
Jaguara will contest one of two semi-finals of the Vic Bred series this Friday, with the black powerhouse set to jump from box four in race two (3.44pm AEDT).
Bravo said it is a tough challenge for ‘Flash’, with a couple of speedy types in the race.
“He has got box four and he has got the fastest qualifier for the series in the red – it will come down to what he can do early.
“If he gets a chance to get clear I think he will be right in the race, but even if he doesn’t win it wont be the end of the world because I think he has a pretty bright future and we will be looking to get him up over a bit further soon.”
Race A Chaser will also be aiming for success earlier in the week, with both Megan Keeping and Noakis Girl going around for Bravo at Ballarat on Wednesday night. Megan Keeping will contest race eight from box five, with the daughter of Comsic Rumble and Indigo Gem coming off a one-length second in a B.O.N 25.39 at Warrnambool last Thursday.
Bravo said she was happy with Megan’s run, pushing through to find the lead before tiring slightly in the final stages.
“It was good to see – she had to work hard and she didn’t chuck in the towel,” Bravo said.
“It would have been nice to win, but I wasn’t disappointed in her run because she chased despite being under a fair bit of pressure and that probably cost her a little bit at the finish.
“In the end she only got beaten a length and it was in the best of the night time so I was happy with her.”
Bravo says that Megan is a live chance in her race on Wednesday night (9:18pm AEDT), despite being up against the talented Hail Storming (box six).
“The race is not overly tough – she should be thereabouts – it is just a matter of whether she can find the lead.
“She has been pretty reliable in her past three or four starts and she will be trying.”
Also engaged on Wednesday is Noakis Girl which is coming off two impressive victories, her most recent being a 22.15 win over the track and trip. She will contest race 11 (10:19pm AEDT), a final over the 390 metre distance.
The daughter of Big Daddy Cool and Noaki Pace moves out to box seven for the decider, but Bravo says she has enough ability to be competitive.
“She has got a bit on the field – she ran the best of the night at her last start – I am just hoping that she doesn’t come out and do a left hand turn otherwise she may find herself in a bit of trouble.
“If she can jump and clear them then she should run well.”
