KENSA will have her first start for Race A Chaser Syndications on Saturday night when she contests a maiden event over the 400m trip at The Gardens.

Trained by Michael Manuel, Kensa was purchased by Race A Chaser at the 2014 Richmond Riches Puppy Auction and is a daughter of Spring Gun and Little Bit Fancy.

Spring Gun has emerged as a fantastic bread and butter sire, with one of his best progeny, Magic Spring, recently taking out the Group 1 National Derby (520m) at Wentworth Park.

Her dam, Little Bit Fancy, hails from one of the best lines in Australia, with her mother being by Where’s Pedro out of the prolific producer Sweet Fancy, the winner of the 2007 Group 3 Richmond Oaks final.

Little Bit Fancy is a litter sister to 2011 Group 1 Paws of Thunder winner Fancy Will and 2012 Group 1 Golden Easter Egg finalist Fancy Dean. Sweet Fancy also produced Fancy Liza, the 2013 Group 1 Association Cup winner, from her 2010 mating to Brett Lee.

Kensa has had one performance trial, over 400m at Gosford, where she clocked a handy 23.19 on February 18.

Since then Kensa has continued to gain experience and we are excited to see what she can do on the racetrack, with our opinion being that she will will continue to mature and develop into a quality TAB class greyhound.

Prospective syndicate members can look forward to sharing the excitement of owning a ready to race, competitive greyhound, while she also has a strong future as a brood bitch awaiting when she retires from the track (although we are hopeful that is going to be a few years down the track).

Because she was purchased at the Richmond Puppy Auction, Kensa is also eligible for the 2016 Richmond Riches Race series which comprises of a $100,000 to the winner race in May over 535m, as well as two other feature races over 400m and 618m.

Kensa is yet another promising addition to the Race A Chaser team and we are very excited about racing her and our other greyhounds throughout this year following on from a very successful year in 2015.

Last year saw three of our greyhounds hit the track, namely Megan Keeping (Megan), Noakis Girl (Noaki) and Jaguara (Flash), starting on 54 occasions resulting in 22 wins and 17 placings – not bad considering Noaki and Flash only started racing towards the end of September!

Aside from Kensa, we also have Megan Keeping nominated to race this week, with the daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Indigo Gem the first reserve at The Meadows this Saturday night.

Megan has been racing in consistent form this year, having won a race in town (30.20 – The Meadows) with another couple of placings at Sandown Park. She has now won 20 races from 51 starts, with 16 minor placings and $42,610 in prize money earnings.

Jaguara and Noakis Girl preparing for a return

Jaguara, a son of Mildean Panther and Flamingo Sands, recently made the move to WA to continue his racing career under the care of Steve Shinners. Flash has only had 12 starts so far throughout his career, but he has shown great potential as a future stayer and we look forward to seeing him develop into a nice distance runner under Steve’s care.

Our other racer, Noakis Girl, is currently on the comeback from injury and also looks to have a bright 2016 ahead of her. She has won six races from 11 starts and is under the care of leading trainers Kelly and Brett Bravo in Victoria.

Noaki is a half sister to Group 1 Temlee winner Zelemar Fever, making her an extremely valuable brood bitch once she heads to the breeding barn.

Noaki will have her first start for the year on Wednesday night at Ballarat when she contests race 11 from box one.
