Megan Keeping made a successful return to the racetrack at Maitland on Thursday, clocking a best of the day time of 22.30 over 400m.
Returning from a two-week spell, the daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Indigo Gem stepped beautifully from box six and gapped her rivals by six lengths at the finish. This win was Megan’s 10th of her career from start 19.
Trainer Jason Mackay was extremely happy with her performance and is now concentrating on getting her race fitness back to 100%.
“She was outstanding on Thursday. Her first two sectionals are unheard of that track and she will only improve on that run.”
“Race fitness is very important and I will look to build on that run and get her back up to 500 metres.”
Megan clocked a blistering first sectional of 5.21, 15.56 for her second section and came home in 6.74. Her overall time 0f 22.30 was a new personal best for the 29kg pocket rocket and this was her second consecutive win, after scoring at Wentworth Park two weeks ago in 30.15.
