JAGUARA will be aiming to secure his second career victory for Race A Chaser Syndications at Bendigo on Friday when the son of Mildean Panther and Flamingo Sands exits box one over the testing 660 metre trip.
Trained by Kelly Bravo, Jaguara made a promising debut over the track and distance last week, finishing five-and-one-quarter-lengths second behind Flying Kayla which clocked a BOD 37.89.
Bravo said she was pleased with the performance, with the black chaser finding an abundance of trouble.
With just seven career starts, Jaguara is continuing to learn and is developing into more of a race dog with each and every start.
“I was happy with his run, he ran on nice after finding a little bit of trouble and the winner, even though it has only won a couple of races, is a very good trial dog,” Bravo explained.
“He (Jaguara) began pretty good last Friday – he doesn’t seem to like to go around dogs when they get in front of him, but it is only early days and he is still learning.”
Bravo said she was expecting a good run from “Flash” this week, with the leading conditioner adding that she hopes to step him up over 700 metres in the near future.
“If he can begin as good this week as he did last week he should be able to hold his position.
“I think he is definitely going to get the distance on the way he races – I think we have just got to be a little bit patient with him – hopefully we can get him up over the 700 in another few weeks.”
Also stepping out for Race A Chaser this weekend is the ultra-consistent Megan Keeping which will return to The Meadows after finishing second last Saturday over the 525 metre trip.
After pinging the lids, Megan appeared to get a little lost at her track debut, tiring in the final stages to finish second.
Despite not landing the cash, Bravo said she was still happy with the run.
“She did everything she had to do – she flew early and, although she got a little lost and ran wide on the first turn – she did pretty well.
“It was nice to see her get out well and she ran some really nice sections out in front – she just found it a little tough towards the end.”
Megan Keeping will exit box five in race nine this Saturday night, with Bravo optimistic that the daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Indigo Gem will break through for a city win soon.
“I am confident that she will have her day in town, she just needs to find a couple of lengths on last week.
“She is trying hard every week so you cant complain.”
Jaguara is set to jump at 4:34pm AEDT on Friday afternoon, while the bunny will be set in motion for Megan Keeping’s race on Saturday at 9:57pm AEDT.
