Race A Chaser’s Megan Keeping will step out in her second group race heat this Friday night at Maitland, attempting to make next week’s $40,000 Gold Cup Final over 450m.

Coming up with box one in heat eight, Megan faces similar company to last week’s non-graded event, where she saluted by two and three quarter lengths in an impressive time of 25.17. Recording sizzling early sectionals of 7.79 and 18.27, trainer Jason Mackay is confident she can improve on her performance this week.

“The run last week will top her off nicely for this week and i’m really happy with the box draw.”

“She’s got the early pace to use the inside draw to her advantage and she pulled up really good after last week’s win so hopefully she can do it again.”

The daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Indigo Gem is unbeaten over the 450m journey at Maitland after three starts and recorded a blistering personal best of 25.09 at her first attempt over the distance back in January.

Megan has won 13 races from 24 career starts and will need to be successful in her heat on Friday to qualify for next week’s Group 2 final. The race will be run and won at 9.38pm.
