RACE A Chaser Syndications is hoping to start 2016 with a bang when the ultra-consistent Megan Keeping heads to Warrnambool on Thursday night.
Trained by Kelly and Brett Bravo, Megan Keeping is having her first start since finishing fifth in the Christmas Gift (440 metres) final at Sale on Boxing Day where she had no luck against some of the best sprinters in the state.
Megan was due to resume last week at Bendigo, however that meeting was called off due to extreme heat which was forecast in the area, but she has since trialled nicely and is firing on all cylinders ahead of Thursday’s event.
“She is going good,” Kelly Bravo said.
“Unfortunately she had to be scratched last week at Bendigo as the races were abandoned due to the heat, but she has had a post-to-post at Sandown to give her a hit out and she has pulled up really well.”
Bravo is confident that Megan will put in a good performance when she jumps from box four in race 11 over the 390 metre trip. The daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Indigo Gem will face some quality opposition including the talented Spring Missile (box seven) and Quint Bale (box five).
“Obviously the box is not great this week but the draw doesn’t seem to matter with her as long as she begins well – she needs to be able to clear the dogs around her early to be in with a chance.
‘If she begins I think she will go well.”
Megan Keeping has been a terrific money spinner for her syndicate of owners, saluting on 18 occasions with a further 13 placings from 43 starts overall, with over $34,000 in prize money earnings.
Megan’s race is set to jump at 10:14pm AEDT on Thursday night.
