Noakis Girl and Jaguara on track for successful return to racing

NOAKIS Girl and Jaguara, which have both been sidelined due to injury, are set to resume racing within the next few weeks for Race A Chaser Syndications.

Noakis Girl has not raced since mid-December due to a number of meetings being abandoned because of the heat. She then injured herself in a fitness trial, tearing her pin and requiring some time off.

Co-trainer Kelly Bravo says Noaki is thriving since being back in work at home and is set to have her first trial early this week.

“She is working really nicely at home so we’ll just let her keep doing that in the meantime to strengthen her shoulder up again before we trial her,” Bravo said.

“We will look at trialling her over the 300 but she will probably only need one or two trials before she can be nominated so all going well she shouldn’t be too far away from racing.”

Noakis Girl has proven to be quite a handy bitch from her limited starts to date. The daughter of Big Daddy Cool and Noaki Pace has faced the starter on 11 occasions for six wins and three minor placings, with the plan now being to work her up to 450m once she resumes.

Also on the comeback is Jaguara which has not raced since injuring his hock last December. With plenty of time off to recuperate, the budding stayer has been back trialling for a couple of weeks and is ready to resume his career at Sandown Park next Thursday.

“If we were waiting to build him up to his perfect distance we would be trialling him for another three or four weeks, so we have decided we will put him in over 500 at Sandown next Thursday and see how he goes,” Bravo explained.

“He is fit enough to run out the 500 no worries but it will all depend on what type of race and box he gets drawn in as to how he goes, but even if he doesn’t do much he will still have that 500m run under his belt and we can then look at stepping him up further again.”

Bravo said she was happy with how the son of Mildean Panther and Flamingo Sands has been going since coming back from his spell and she is hopeful that ‘Flash’ will be able to return to his best.

“He took a few trials to find his feet this time in, but he trialled at Ballarat Wednesday night and he was back to running what we expected from him.”
