Megan Keeping’s Dazzling Wentworth Park Performance

Race A Chaser’s Megan Keeping made a successful return to Wentworth Park last night, winning a heat of the Group One National Futurity in a solid time of 30.04.

Megan’s last start at the Metropolitan circuit was back in April of last year, where she finished seventh in a semi-final of the Group Three Magic Maiden series.

Exiting from box eight last night, the daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Indigo Gem speared the lids, clocking a sizzling first sectional of 5.30. Gapping her rivals in the back straight, Megan streaked away to score by eight and a half lengths at the finish, with a blistering second sectional of 13.71.

Trainer Jason Mackay was very pleased with her performance and expects improvement on the clock in next Saturday night’s semi-final.

“She went super. She will improve on that time next week, which should see her first two sectionals very impressive.”

“That was her first 520 for a long time and she pulled up great after the run. It will be good to see her do it again next week.”

Megan Keeping has a sensational record under new mentor Jason Mackay, having won four of seven starts whilst at his Richmond Vale kennels and has notched up some outstanding personal bests at Maitland (22.31, 25.09) and The Gardens (22.67).

The box draw for the Group One National Futurity semi-finals is expected to be released by GRNSW on Tuesday afternoon.
