Megan Keeping’s Group One National Futurity Assault

Race A Chaser’s Megan Keeping will return to Wentworth Park for the first time since her debut career start at the track in April of last year. Finishing second in a heat of the Group Three Magic Maiden from box five, Megan was defeated by a length in a time of 30.51.

Stepping out in a heat of the Group One National Futurity tomorrow night for Hunter Valley trainer Jason Mackay, Megan comes off a best of the day performance at Maitland last Thursday, where she sizzled over the 450m in 25.09.

Despite her length absence from New South Wales’ metropolitan circuit, Mackay is confident she can produce a good performance from box eight.

“I’m really happy with the box and she came out good last week, so it should suit her even if she misses it a bit.”

The daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Indigo Gem will exit from box eight in race two, schedule to jump at 7.38pm EDST and has a solid record from the outside draw, with a win and second placing from two starts.

The 29kg pocket-rocket will need to finish in the first four to qualify for next week’s semi finals, which will be run and won next Saturday night.
